Members & Partners

PWYP Indonesia membership is open to civil society that is part of Non-Governmental Organizations (Community Self-Reliance Institutions, Community Organizations, and/or communities). Each member organization appoints two permanent representatives to represent the organization in the coalition, but each member has only one voting right to be elected and to vote in decision-making. PWYP Indonesia members are verified every four years prior to the General Members’ Meeting.

1. Share the same vision, mission, objectives, values, and principles as
   PWYP Indonesia;
2. Acknowledge and agree to comply with PWYP Indonesia’s statutes and
   regulations;
3. Not be affiliated with any political party in Indonesia; and
4. Funding has not been received from mining companies, oil, and
   gas companies, palm oil plantation companies, and/or companies in the
   forestry sector.

• Organizations wishing to become members must submit a written application to the Chair of the Steering Committee through the National Coordinator, including administrative documents:
  • Letters of support from at least two PWYP Indonesia member organizations;
  • A statement of willingness to comply with PWYP Indonesia’s statutes and regulations;
  • A letter appointing two organizational representatives to communicate with the National Secretariat;
  • The organization’s articles of association or statutes; and
  • An organizational profile containing at least the background of establishment, vision, mission, objectives, work programs, advocacy experience over the past two years, contact address, and organizational structure.
• Each membership application will be administratively verified by the Steering Committee and the National Secretariat.
• Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant for completion.
• Complete applications will undergo factual verification by the Steering Committee and the National Coordinator. Subsequently, the Steering Committee will decide to accept or reject the application.

In addition to members, the PWYP Indonesia national coalition also recognizes the existence of partners and observers. Partner and observer status is administered by the National Coordinator and approved/established by the Steering Committee.

Partners are representatives of institutions that understand and agree with the vision, mission, goals, and activities of the PWYP Indonesia National Coalition, but cannot join as members (i.e., they do not represent an organization). Observers are individuals who, without representing organizational interests, understand and agree with the vision, mission, goals, and activities of the PWYP Indonesia National Coalition.

Currently, PWYP Indonesia members comprise 31 non-governmental organizations at the national and local levels, spread across all major islands in Indonesia, particularly in areas rich in natural and extractive resources.
