Indonesian Civil Society Organizations Call for COP 28
5 December 2023
The realization of a just and sovereign welfare of the people through the management of extractive resources and other natural resources in Indonesia in a transparent, accountable, participatory, and sustainable manner.
The global discourse on energy transition has taken center stage in an era marked by pressing environmental challenges. Initiatives like the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and Indonesia’s pioneering Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) have emerged as catalysts for change. Established in 2022 alongside the G20 Summit, JETP endeavors to galvanize public and private sector investments in this pivotal transition. Building on this foundation, the Government of Indonesia has introduced the ETM framework, focusing on the Carbon Reduction Facility (CRF) and Clean Energy Facility (CEF).
PWYP Indonesia advocates for transparency and accountability in the governance of extractive resources in Indonesia. They work with the government, private sector, academia, and international institutions to achieve sustainable reforms. PWYP Indonesia also focuses on strengthening civil society institutions, capacity building, and collaboration with strategic partners. They face funding challenges but remain committed to developing organizational development strategies and achieving self-reliance through cooperation with other stakeholders.
