The realization of a just and sovereign welfare of the people through the management of extractive resources and other natural resources in Indonesia in a transparent, accountable, participatory, and sustainable manner.
The rapid and transformative energy transition is a global issue. Indonesia is also pushing for a shift towards renewable energy. The Indonesian government aims for a zero-emission economy by 2060 and 2050 in the energy sector. However, the projected share of renewable energy is only 24% by 2030, which is not ambitious enough to keep global temperatures at 1.5°C. There are concerns that the JETP scheme may support false solutions that favor the coal industry. Women and girls from low-income households may also bear disproportionate impacts due to a lack of access to clean and affordable energy. This project aims to promote gender equity and inclusivity in energy transition in Indonesia.
PWYP Indonesia advocates for transparency and accountability in the governance of extractive resources in Indonesia. They work with the government, private sector, academia, and international institutions to achieve sustainable reforms. PWYP Indonesia also focuses on strengthening civil society institutions, capacity building, and collaboration with strategic partners. They face funding challenges but remain committed to developing organizational development strategies and achieving self-reliance through cooperation with other stakeholders.
