“We are picking up aspirations and input about oil and gas activities in the context of perfecting the academic paper. Improvements are needed so that oil and gas make a meaningful contribution to Indonesia, “

Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) – The Working Committee on the Draft Law on Oil and Gas Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) conducted a working visit to Riau Province to obtain input because the province is the largest producer of fossil energy in Indonesia.

“We are picking up aspirations and input about oil and gas activities in the context of perfecting the academic paper. Improvements are needed so that oil and gas make a meaningful contribution to Indonesia, “Chairman of the Group, Jamaluddin Jafar, at the Lancang Kuning Tower of the Riau Governor’s Office in Pekanbaru, Thursday.

He said that the renewal of the oil and gas law was needed even more so after a Constitutional Court ruling that stated it contradicted the 1945 Constitution. Therefore, this bill was an initiative of the DPR for an evaluation.

On the occasion of the work visit, seven members of the DPR were joined. Among them were Adian Napitutupulu and Endre Syaiful. While Riau DPRD member Muhammad Nasir was told to come to Pekanbaru, but did not attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, from the Riau Provincial Government, Acting Governor, Arsyadjuliandi Rachman did not attend the meeting. He was informed that he was on leave for the interests of the party ahead of the elections. However, the Acting Governor took the time to welcome the Senayan Legislator at the VIP Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru.

The meeting itself was represented by the Head of the Riau Mineral Resources and Energy Office, Syahrial Abdi. To give input presented at the meeting oil and gas experts from Riau Islamic University, Prof. Syafrinaldi.

The expert said that the academic draft of the bill was considered very long, but not concrete. He hoped that there would be changes to the bill that was widely voiced, including from Riau as the largest oil-producing region.

“In the management of the region, a special place must be given, the percentage of revenue sharing based on the production sharing contract is now 85 percent of the country, 15 percent of the contractor. “For a country of 85 percent, it must also be divided at least 10 percent for producing regions,” he said.

If the oil block is from one district the proportion must also be fair. This has long been desired by the people of Riau. Always asking the central government but it hasn’t been given yet.

“We expect Commission VII to be a hero for the people of Riau,” he added.
