Asia Regional MSG & NC Workshop (dok. PH EITI)

 

Manila (10/06/2015) – Delegation of EITI implementing countries in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea (PNG), the Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor Leste attended Regional EITI Asia MSG & National Coordinator Workshop organized by EITI International Secretariat on 8 to 10 June 2015 in Manila, the Philippines. This workshop is an opportunity to share knowledge, experience and good practices in implementing the EITI Standard in each country.

 

Issues of SOEs transparency; Licensing and Contracts and the Petroleum Fund is one of the critical issues discussed in the workshop which was attended by representatives of Indonesia from Indonesia Mining Association (IMA), Directorate General of Budget, Ministry of Finance, Ministry for Economic Affairs and PWYP Indonesia.

 

Interesting session is the discussion about how to present the data easily to read and analyzed in order to provoke public debate as well synergize EITI report by improvement extractive industry governance. Indonesian delegation expressed the importance of coherence between EITI with state revenue, movement against corruption, and strengthening of regional autonomy.

 

At the end of the session, all delegates submit progress reports and preparation of work plans MSG including how to overcome a number of challenges. Reflection of global EITI developments, input on the strategic review for the EITI Board and preparation of the EITI Global Conference in 2016.
