In 2006, there was a mudflow from the Lapindo Brantas Inc (LBI) well which caused the community around LBI to lose their village. In 2011, Lapindo again submitted a UKL-UPL permit to BLH Sidoarjo to drill again and since 2011 LBI has also pocketed an environmental development plan (WP & B and AFE). However, in January 2016 the drilling plan at Tanggulangin was stopped for evaluation of the social aspects of the community.
