This document is a report on the study of spatial transparency of extractive industries in the province of West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) conducted by the Swandiri Institute in collaboration with Publish What You Pay Indonesia.

This report, in general, is a presentation of the results of a mine concession spatial test in West Kalimantan Province and looks at overlapping concessions using a “go and no-go analysis” analysis framework that refers to Law Number 41 of 1999.

In detail, this report is divided into 5 (five) sections.

Part 1 describes some of the extractive aspects of West Kalimantan in the form of geographical and socio-economic position, description of extractive industries in West Kalimantan, and the condition of forests.

Section 2 describes the research methods which include data collection methods, data triangulation methods, and data analysis methods.

Section 3 is a presentation of the results of literature studies, empirical studies, and web-based GIS (Geographical Information System) all of the results are stored and can be accessed freely and online.

Section 4 discusses the results of an analysis of the relationship between spatial transparency and extractive industries and the seizure of land belonging to local communities in West Kalimantan.

Section 5 summarizes the achievements, lessons learned and recommendations for further research development.
