The year 2018 was an important milestone for Indonesia. The principle of recognizing the beneficial owners of corporations has been implemented through Presidential Regulation No. 13 of 2018 on the Implementation of the Principle of Recognizing Beneficial Owners of Corporations in the Context of Preventing and Eradicating the Criminal Acts of Money Laundering and the Criminal Acts of Financing Terrorism. On July 1, 2022, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) as the authorized agency opened the results of the corporate beneficial owner declaration to the public.

Greenpeace Indonesia, Woods & Wayside International, Transformasi untuk Keadilan (TuK) Indonesia, Transparency International (TI) Indonesia, and Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Indonesia have published the results of a study to validate the quality of corporate beneficial ownership information submitted by several palm oil and pulp sector companies in Indonesia.
