Depok – One of the important aspects for supporting work on non-profit organizations is financial management. The availability of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is one of the important parts that must be owned by non-profit organization to carry out the financial functions of the institution. To strengthen this aspect, Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Indonesia held a training entitled “Building Financial SOPs and SOPs for Procurement of Goods and Services” on January 26-27, 2023, in Depok, West Java. The training, which aims to increase capacity and support member organizations of the PWYP Indonesia coalition in building Financial SOPs and SOPs for Procurement of Goods and Services, was attended by 22 organizations and presented by Coach Hadi Prayitno and Coach Sri Sudarsih from SWANAGATA.

Participants were quite enthusiastic about participating in this training. In addition to the substance of the material being relevant to the needs of the organization, participants were also invited to involve in practice and simulation in building Financial SOPs and SOPs for the Procurement of Goods and Services. This training is part of the Strengthening the Capacity of Institutions and Coalitions for Transparent, Fair and Sustainable Extractive Resources Governance Reform Program, which is part of the BUILD Program supported by the Ford Foundation and the Directorate General of Regional Development (DG Bina Bangda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

As for why non-profit organizations must have Financial SOPs and SOPs for the Procurement of Goods and Services? According to coach Sri Sudarsih, a good organization will rely on the strength of the internal control system and the performance of the organization’s financial management, which should be explicitly developed according to the special characteristics of each non-profit organization, in this case, the system referred to is the Financial SOP and SOP for Procurement of Goods and Services.

In building the Financial SOP, participants were given the material to take steps to prepare it. Starting from studying the organizational structure, output analysis, analysis of applicable procedures, and analysis of procedural policies and forms used. As for the Goods and Services Procurement SOP, participants learned to understand the general provisions of procurement, the matrix of procurement systems and procedures, and systems and procedures for procuring goods and services.
