Indigenous peoples, especially those living in around forests and hinterland areas, often receive direct impacts from extractive industry activities, particularly in terms of social and environmental impacts. It is not infrequent that the needs and activities of extractive industries, such as mining, plantation, and industrial plantation forest, have shifted and even reduced local community’s governance territory.
The book “Indigenous Peoples in the Midst of Extractive Industries’ Domination” comes to describe one of indigenous peoples’ portraits in Sanggau District, West Kalimantan, namely Dayak Tobak in fighting for their rights in the midst of extractive industry influences in their territory. The book is deliberately presented in lightweight, containing the story of indigenous peoples and field advocacy stories accompanied by Publish What You Pay with partners in West Kalimantan, Swandiri Institute.
