JAKARTA – Mr. Monty Girianna, Deputi for Energy and Mineral Resources – Ministry of Economic Affairs directly led EITI Indonesia Implementation Team to the main agenda of approval of scoping study 3rd EITI Indonesia report and revision of EITI Indonesia regulation. The meeting produces any response and approval of scoping study submitted by stakeholders. Representative of civil society give notes for improvement of scoping study such as the aspect of completeness reference sources, contextualize of information as well as any scope of data that need to be included. Whereas the discussion of the proposed regulation changes by changes in organizational structure and functioning of government, especially the ministry as well as the need to adapt to the new standard EITI.
Clare Short – Chair of EITI International who also attended the meeting gave a speech about the importance of policy reform of Indonesia extractive industries initiated by EITI, EITI new standard that provides a wider reform, and notes for Indonesia if the publication of EITI report delayed it can cause position Indonesia become suspend.
In his speech, Clare Short also appreciate positive public discussion conducted by PWYP Indonesia which present a wide range of stakeholders with flow discuss of improvement of governance and transparency of extractive industries revenue in Indonesia.
