Paper Position of Anti Mafia Mining Coalition in West Sulawesi, Gorontalo and North Maluku

The Anti Mafia Mining Coalition appreciates the initiative developed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to conduct supervision and prevention of corruption in the Minerba sector through the Coordination and Supervision (Korsup) activities in the Mineral and Coal (Minerba) sector. The Anti Mafia Mining Coalition feels it is important to participate in the implementation of the Minerba Coordinating Body through monitoring activities and collecting data in the field to be submitted to the KPK. This civil society support aims to strengthen the work of supervision and law enforcement which is still weak internally in local and central government. Korsup KPK Phase-1 in 12 provinces began in early 2014, while Korsup KPK Phase-2 for 19 provinces began in December 2014, including through coordination and joint monitoring of regional heads in 3 (three) provinces, namely West Sulawesi Province, Gorontalo and North Sulawesi on 8 June 2015. This position paper was prepared as a result of the supervision of a coalition of civil society in 3 (three) provinces, especially those concerning aspects of permit compliance, state revenue, and social and environmental aspects.
