EITI International has released a research report on Community Engagement in the Just Energy Transition in Colombia, Ghana, and Indonesia. The research describes the situation and challenges faced by impacted communities in resource-rich mining countries in the energy transition agenda. The findings and recommendations from this study aim to strengthen community access to data and dialogue spaces through the EITI framework so that decarbonization agendas do not overlook the rights of impacted communities.

PWYP Indonesia, together with IDEA Yogyakarta, contributed to the writing of the study and the capacity development agenda for research areas in Indonesia, especially in North Morowali District, Central Sulawesi. As an area rich in extractive natural resources such as nickel, the region is also part of the Indonesian government’s focus on developing smelter and electric vehicle industries.
