Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Civil Society Coalition which is incorporated in Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Indonesia is urging SOE Minister Rini Soemarno that the mechanism and selection process of the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) be carried out transparently.
This is done considering that up to now there has been no direct information from Rini regarding the criteria and what stages are being taken in the selection process of the Managing Director of Pertamina.
The Chairperson of the Civil Society Coalition Supervisory Agency named Publish What You Pay (PWYP), Fabby Tumiwa said Pertamina as a strategic SOE in supplying crude oil and domestic fuel, besides having a large budget and assets are very vulnerable to political intervention and used as ‘cash cows’ ‘for the economic benefit of various parties, especially the ruling parties.
“The Managing Director and the Board of Directors of Pertamina with integrity, professionalism and a good track record are the initial capital to block the entry of various interests who want to exploit Pertamina that harms the country and society,” Fabby said in his written statement, Saturday (11/15/2014) ).
Fabby explained that the public also asked the government to involve the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) as part of the selection process for the number one person in the largest SOE in Indonesia. It was intended to prove the commitment of the Jokowi-JK administration that would be transparent in managing their government.
He hoped that the Jokowi-JK Government made a breakthrough in the recruitment process of the BUMN Directors so that their reputation and trust in SOEs would increase in the eyes of the public and the international community.
Meanwhile, Maryati Abdullah, PWYP Indonesia National Coordinator added Pertamina’s Managing Director should also be able to cut oil trade rents and fuel procurement that are not effective, including making the transparent calculation of fuel subsidies, especially in the aspect of production costs so that the public can rationalize the price of fuel oil (BBM) consumed by society.
“Therefore, the SOEs Minister should have the same vision as the president in the selection process of Pertamina’s Managing Director. There must be no public suspicion, Pertamina’s Managing Director will only become an ‘entrusted’ person, “she said.
On the other hand, President Joko Widodo was asked to approve the Presidential Decree (Kepres) containing the selection and determination of directors of SOEs quite fully implemented by SOE Minister Rini Soemarno.
Related to this, Member of the Indonesian Parliament PDIP Faction Effendy Simbolon said this was an attempt to break the chain of the Final Assessment Team (TPA) in the appointment of the 25 directors of the strategic SOE.
According to him, this cannot be tolerated because it will have a negative impact on the Government led by Jokowi.
“This can’t be left too long for people like this to live. Will damage Jokowi’s government. And Jokowi don’t hesitate to re-shuffle him. Because I think he and his cronies must be removed from the cabinet, “he stressed. (Yas / Ndw)
