On Monday, January 20, 2025, the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the House of Representatives (DPR) RI suddenly held a plenary meeting to discuss the revision of Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining (Minerba). The meeting, which lasted from morning until night, discussed the preparation of the Draft Law (RUU) on the Third Amendment to the Minerba Law. The agenda continued with a working committee meeting (Panja) held in closed session, then concluded with a plenary meeting to make decisions on the results of the RUU preparation. The discussion of the Minerba Law revision not only surprised the public, but also some members of the DPR Baleg. In fact, they admitted to only receiving the academic manuscript a few hours before the meeting started.
