The government is increasingly severe in finding ways to maintain PLTU, contributing to emissions. One is by combining coal plus biomass in PLTU combustion (co-firing), which is claimed to reduce emissions. Biomass in the EBET Bill is categorized as renewable energy.
But is it effective? The problem is that biomass from wood pellets can cause deforestation because the wood in the forest is cut down to ensure the stock continues. This means the emissions from deforestation and PLTU boilers can be even higher.
Even though we already breathe pollution every day. So, let’s reject the false solution (co-firing PLTU) in the EBET Bill.
